First Annual Beat Music Festival comes to Orlando

The very first music festival to hit Orlando took place November 23rdand I only have one word, memorable. Local radio station, 104.5 The Beat organized their first annual music festival over Central Florida’s Classic Weekend. Held at an outdoor venue, the Lott, near Downtown Orlando, the event featured vendors, food, and of course, live performances from music artists such as Rotimi, Da Baby and Megan Thee Stallion.

Doors opened at approximately 3 p.m., beginning with an open mic opportunity for the attendees. Audience members had the chance to go up on stage and showcase their talents. Some people volunteered to sing, while others volunteered to show off their dancing or instrumental skills. Once that concluded, the official lineup began. Orlando’s 104.5 The Beat kicked off the show with performances from local artists such as Rude Boi, Seddy Hendricks, Leegit, Dreci, Vetta J and Tonii Boi. Finally, the headliners began to take the stage. Rotimi, Da Baby and Megan Thee Stallion graced the stage one at a time. All of who have gained major notoriety in the music industry within the last one or two years.

Vetta J, one of the local artists, describes his experience as “enlightening.” Vetta J was born and raised right here in Orlando and has been rapping since his middle school days. “I came into this believing I already had what it takes to do the performance. I just wanted to further prove myself, so this experience was really assuring for me personally. This was extremely big for the city and I’m glad I was apart of it. It brought me in the face of a lot of important people. It was lit and definitely pushed me forward”, Vetta J said with enthusiasm.

Now as the announcers would say-- its time for the moment you’ve all been waiting for! Rotimi hit the stage first performing his hit single “Love Riddim”along with his own personal band. The Nigeria native, who is also an actor, sang to fans in an all-white outfit. Up next was rapper Da Baby. Da Baby has quickly risen to fame within the last year with his smash single “Suge” released in March of this year. Da Baby opened his performance with Suge, before going on to perform songs “Intro” and “Bop”from his latest album Kirk. For the finale, fairly new female artist Megan Thee Stallion closed out the show. She performed her hit songs “Realer”, “Simon Says” and “Hot Girl Summer.”

“I enjoyed seeing Megan and Da Baby interact with the crowd. Bringing people on stage to sing and dance along with them was fun to watch. Both of their performances were great.” said concert go-er Sidney Jacques. To anyone who missed the music fest, not to worry. 104.5 has intentions on turning the festival into an annual event, with more artists each year.
